Responsibilities:
- Perform maintenance actions such as, remove, install, troubleshoot, modify, functionally check, and repair B-52H systems and components related to Mission Data Recorder.
- Remove/install/replace Mission Data Recorder and related system assemblies and components using hand tools, wire maintenance tools/kits, and specialty tools with a focus on safety and proper use.
- Properly care for and maintain equipment and tools.
- Remove, install, modify, repair, and terminate Mission Data Recorder wiring harnesses, interconnecting cables, and other electronic components/parts.
- Use test equipment such as multi-meters, video testers, specialized test benches/stations, and other electrical/avionics test equipment to perform functional/operational checks, line sweeps, troubleshoot malfunctions, pin checks, and voltage checks.
- Read and interpret Technical Orders, schematics/wiring diagrams, Air Force Instructions, and installation procedures to complete Mission Data Recorder installation and associated work.
- Make entries in aircraft forms, logs, and records.
- Use Integrated Maintenance Data System (IMDS) to load, track, and sign off all maintenance actions.
- Maintain currency on personal and team training, security, and safety requirements and guidelines.
- Comply with directives governing handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and material.
-Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment when required, or in situations where hazards are present.
- Follow supervisory and engineering instructions and communicate progress, status, obstacles, and other day to day reporting information.
- Supervise technicians, assign tasks, and ensure tasks are completed on schedule.
Inspect all completed work for accuracy and thoroughness.
- Ensure team works as a cohesive unit while following company, local, government, and contracting rules and regulations.
- Coordinate maintenance needs with local unit Production or team Engineer as required to maintain schedule compliance.
MDR Lead requirements:
- 5 years minimum/7
preferred as Avionics or E/E technician on B-52H aircraft.
- Must have held a USAF skill level 7 or equivalent.
- Must have been a Staff Sergeant or above or supervisory equivalent.
- Firm understanding of Air Force flightline or backshop maintenance processes and procedures.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams and schematics.
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals and publications, and special tools and test equipment.
- Advanced knowledge and ability to perform wire/cable maintenance and terminations.
- Ability to use Ground Support Equipment to complete tasks.
- Training records available for MDS or primary work.
- Active security clearance.
- Willing to travel as required.
- Willingness for Flexible shift schedule with majority of work occurring on normal day shift hours.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Possess a thorough working knowledge of the detection, prevention, and treatment of corrosion.
- Basic understanding of Foreign Object prevention and control.
- Understanding of concepts and application of applicable maintenance directives.
Physical requirements and working environment:
- Requires sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
- Requires frequent climbing, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, crouching, kneeling, lifting, carrying, balancing, and reaching above shoulder level, pushing, or pulling weight up to 70 pounds.
- Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
- Must have close vision to include color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Requires hearing to normal range.
- Requires shift work in a diversity of working conditions that range from a standard shop/hangar type environment, where there may be no physical discomfort, to an environment where inclement weather may subject individual to severe changes in temperature, direct sun, wind, rain, etc.
- May be required to work in areas where noise hazards are prevalent.
- Exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, materials identified on Material Safety Data Sheets, working on or around aircraft and machinery.
- May be exposed to electrical shock hazard.
- Work location is aircraft maintenance shops, hangars, and flight line.
